•Appoints Obaseki as Chairman
Ahead of the September 21, 2024 governorship election in Edo State, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has unveiled a 200-man campaign council, naming Governor Godwin Obaseki as its Chairman.
This was contained in a statement issued by Mr. Tony Anenih (Jnr.) the state PDP Organising Secretary and made available to journalists in Benin City, the Edo State Capital
According to the statement, members of the campaign council who it said were carefully selected to deliver the PDP flagbearer, Dr. Asue Ighodalo are versatile members of the party
It disclosed that the campaign structure has an advisory council headed by Obaseki; a management committee; a state campaign council made up of eminent members of the PDP.
The statement added that the women’s wing of the campaign would be headed by the Edo state First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, and the youth wing to be led by the Deputy National Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor.
It explained that the selection process was carried out under the direct supervision of the leaders of the party headed by the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
“I do not have any doubt whatsoever in my mind, that this group of very versatile members of the PDP that have been carefully chosen will deliver our erudite, intellectually sound and broad-minded candidate, Dr. Asuerinme Ighodalo”, the statement read.
