Worried by high level of corruption in Nigeria, the American anti-corruption institute in Nigeria (AACI) is set to partner wit Africanvoice International Training and Development Academy to train professionals in the country on new ways to tackle the monster in public institutions and agencies of the government called corruption.
Speaking during an interactive session with the management of Africanvoice Academy in Ado Ekiti recently, the African Representative of the institute, Dr. Fagbayide Oluwole said that it is evident that corruption had become an international pandemic that has crossed the national borders. “It is no longer an option to do nothing regarding fraud and corruption in our system.
According to him, fighting corruption is multifaceted and require diverse activities to fight the monster that had stunted the growth of many African countries.
He said that Africanvoice Academy as a multi-disciplinary institute is well positioned to partner with the American Institute to train more professionals in the area of anti-graft and fraud related discipline because fighting corruption should always be carried out in a disciplined approach.
The American Anti-Corruption Institute (AACI) believes that qualified professionals and management will effectively fight the endemic monster.
Dr. Fagbayide A. Oluwole, said, “It is apparent that corruption is a bacterial and epidemic that terminates economic growth of Nations if not nip in the bud. All citizenry must imbibe the spirit of anti-corruption for the enablement of government to provide dividend of democracy.
Canvassing for more intelligent way to tackle corruption, the anti-graft institute said, “because tone will always be set at the top, the AACI believes that decision makers should always have anti-fraud intelligence. “We also believe that management is the weakest cycle that usually jeopardizes any anti-corruption effort in any society. Despite the fact that there is too much literature written about the role of management in fighting fraud and corruption, no organization or school provides specific disciplined education and approaches to fight fraud and corruption that engages middle and upper management in the anti-corruption fight.
“We provide two premier anti-corruption certification programs: CACM targeting decision makers and those charged with governance and the Organizations Anti-Corruption Certification program targeting entities. As prevention is always better than cure, The AACI emphasizes corruption prevention and supports organizations in quantifying their corruption exposure. Because tone is always set at the top, The AACI provides the board members with the knowledge and skills to help them meet their duties: fiduciary, care and loyalty. Post-workshop online tests follow all The AACI learning programs.”
The institute with the goal of developing, empowering the middle and upper management through a certification process to fight fraud and corruption consciously, proactively, efficiently, and effectively, added that it is committed to fill the gap and provide assistance to Nigerians and its members with an anti-corruption certification program and further study those conditions that lead to fraud and corruption and the most effective means to battle fraud and corruption.
“As there is a significant lack of fraud and corruption empirical research, the AACI is committed to focus on national and regional research all over the globe to help management and policy makers effectively fight fraud and corruption.
Responding, the Chief Executive Officer of the Academy, Rt. Hon. Olugboyega Aribisogan said that Africanvoice Academy is ready to partner with the American Institute in area such as Security Studies; Cyber Crime and institutional or organizational fraud.
According to him, “Corruption has become a way of life in some African countries. There’s therefore the need to train and retrain both the new and old professionals, particularly, on the latest antics, trends, technologies and devices of those who ply the trade.”
